LUKAS Awards!
Nov 2nd, 2011 - LatinoLife
The first ever awards to recognise the contribution of Britain’s
Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese communities to UK societyBritain’s leading Latin lifestyle magazine, www.latinolife.co.uk, is proud to announce the launch of The Latin-UK Awards (LUKAS), the first ever awards celebrating the contribution of Britain’s burgeoning Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese communities to British society.
We decided it was about time that the Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Communities began to recognise, and be recognised, for their years of hard work, creativity and achievement in the UK, with a permanent annual event to brighten up the British diary. Aficionados of all things Latin have been invited to vote online at www.latinolife.co.uk/lukas-awards for their favourite people, places and services, from Brazilian Restaurant and Cultural Centre of the Year to Tango Teacher and Community Worker of the Year. We are already looking forward to the big gala evening, to take place in January 2012, where we’ll have the opportunity to honour 2011’s outstanding members of the community (and have a great party!). Between now and then, there is lots of voting to do!
THREE categories The LUKAS are made up of over sixty awards under three main categories:
Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Entertainment Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Community Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Services Industry
We have chosen an initial list of nominees for each award. The public is also free to nominate their own candidates.
TWO rounds of voting Until 31st December we will have a first round of voting. From January 2012 the top five most voted nominees in each award will enter a second round of voting. The winners of this round will be announced at a gala event in a prestigous London venue. ONE nomination, ONE vote that can make a difference
