Rakim y Ken-Y
R.K.M & Ken-Y (born José Nieves and Kenny Vásquez) are a popular reggaetón duo from Puerto Rico. R.K.M provides his romantic rapping verses for many songs while Ken-Y provides the vocal lyrics.
Both stars come from Gurabo, Puerto Rico, where before rising to stardom met each other. R.K.M & Ken-Y first used to perform at local clubs and private parties before officially recording songs.
R.K.M & Ken-Y are considered one of the most successful pioneering duos of romantic reggaeton music.
By the time their compilation album "Warriors 4" was released, many established duos in Puerto Rico had already dismantled, including Héctor y Tito, Baby Rasta y Gringo and Karel y Voltio. They have worked with many artists such as Don Omar, Daddy Yankee and Héctor El Father.
Their first album "Masterpiece" has been nominated for Premio Lo Nuestro of 2007. Their first hit single was "Down". The track reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart in 2006.
R.K.M's original stage name was Rakim, but he recently had to change it because of legal trouble with the rapper Rakim. His name is still pronounced "Rakim", though.
