MC Magico
MC Magico was born in Cali, Colombia ("la capital de la salsa") but raised, as a youth on the streets of West London. This 24 year old rapper/singer has two loves - Salsa Brava (old school Salsa) and hip-hop! One of the first Latino MCs in the UK, he started out with MC Indio Lyrico and DJ Loco in a project called Sonido Callejero, "The sound of the Ghetto", around 6 years ago. This soon became La Raza, the first Reggaeton crew to really capture the hearts and minds of London’s young Latinos. With DJ Loco on the beats and Magico on the mic, they soon had a couple of club hits with their songs "Vibration" and "Tracionera". These two tracks were licensed to "Reggaeton Sessions" (Union Square) Colombian top record label Discos Fuentes.
As Reggaeton peaked in the UK in summer 2005, with Daddy Yankee at number 1 worldwide with "Gasolina", La Raza were soon everywhere - club sessions, magazines, radio sessions, festivals. Including MTV show "Barrio 19", then suddenly at the end of that year, they broke up. Magico cites that, the negative lyrical content in a lot Reggaeton and Latin hip-hop as one reason, plus a desire to pursue solo material and collaborate with other musicians.
2008/2009 MC Magico recorded two singles with Basement Jaxx, one called " Shake up " and the other "Wheel and Stop" a project already out on vinyl for sale...also he has featured as guest MC on a remix track by Supafly / under 2AM Productions called "Lets Get Down" on the (Universal Records) compilation "Urban Heat".
He is also a guest on pianist Alex Wilson "Inglaterra" CD (2006) on the Salsa-ton track "Sube Lo", which he co-wrote. In early 2007, Magico produced a whole library album called 'Latin urban' with Alex Wilson for the Library music publishers company West One Music, some of the songs from the (Latin urban) album have been featured on Uk TV programs like: "How to look good naked" and "Sweet Sixteen" At 24.
You can catch MC Magico’s hot tracks “Shake Up” & “El Baile De La Vibracion” on the Reggaeton London Invasion Mixtape Vol.2.
